Amongst the chatter that filled Kiwa’s living room, the phrase “First Angel” kept lining most of the girls’ questions. Kiwa, however, was quick to dart past the crowd and through her front door. “Ce… Cece-chan, wait! Y-You can’t seriously be going after them now, can you? I-I mean…”
“I have to, Kiwa. They know me, which leaves very few possibilities as to who those two really are. I must know for myself, and I cannot wait around any longer for answers through riddles.”
“But… but the Coven! There’s still so much to know, and–“
“Enough, Kiwako.” Cecilia turned her head just a little, enough to catch her eye through the side of her raised hood. “…There’s nothing more I can learn here. I must meet those two, then meet the woman behind all of this, and put an end to it.”
“But why, Cece-chan? You were never in this much of a hurry before… why now? Because the twins knew you were an Angel?”
“No. Because Riko knew me as the First Angel. Meaning that my history has come for me, beyond what I expected. I came to Kamihama in order to find myself. To see which side of myself was my true reflection. But… if I cannot escape my past, even in this isolated place, then there is no point to it all.” She turned to face Kiwako in earnest. “I must defeat the rest of the Coven and return to Mitakihara. There is a man there I must meet…”
“Cece-chan… i-it’s not over yet, you know? Hinata and Masako have been comparing notes, so… s-so maybe you should hear what they have to say..?”
The Oracle sighed. “No. I must meet those twins again. I will meet them, in their personal barriers if I must, and get the answers I need.”
Kiwako’s expression darkened as she looked down. “…Once you set foot in Miracle Hills, there’s no going back, you know? It’s… it’s the beginning of the end of your journey here. Your time here.”
“…I’m sorry, Kiwa-chan”, Cecilia said, a bit softer now. “But you knew this day would come. I’m sorry it had to come faster than you would have liked, but the longer I stayed, the harder this parting would be for either of us.”
“…I mean… once you get to the Hills, then all that’ll be left is Miracle Forest. You know… you know what that means, right, Cece-chan? The leader of the Coven is in that barrier. The mother of all Witches, the Ideal World… all of it. And… and I don’t think you’re ready yet, Cece-chan.”
“Do you? Or is it you who is not ready, Kiwa-chan?”
“……”
“We will meet again, Kiwa-chan. Nothing has stood in my way before, and nothing will now.” Cecilia turned again, taking a few steps away.
“Cecilia. Be safe… okay? You don’t know who they are, or how they know you so well, and you’re still going after them… in their own domain.”
“Call it a residual of Yui’s soul within me, but I am confident. I am a Conductor, an Oracle, and in this dominion, the bearer of the power of two Doppels. If the Twins come for me in tandem, then it is a fair fight.”
“Just… just don’t get hurt, okay? A-And… don’t hurt them too much either, okay?”
“No more than I did to subdue the rest of the Coven, Kiwako.”
Rather than correcting her, Kiwako merely nodded in Cecilia’s direction before turning and sprinting back to her house, the front door slamming shut, and the sound of several locks clicking into place behind it.
“…Kiwako.”
The road leading to the hills behind Kamihama was much shorter than Cecilia had thought. Before long, she came to a lush meadow on an incline, and at the top, a small, wooden cabin. The Oracle approached with caution, slowly looking around the facade before she knocked twice on the door. The door opened to her touch, and inside, two girls were sitting at a small, simple table. One looking down at her freshly emptied plate, the other peering directly into the intruder.
“Cecilia, how nice of you to join us. And so soon after the party… I hope Kiwa-chan wasn’t too upset.”
“Of course she was. Partings are never easy, especially for one so young. But you knew this already.”
Riko smiled softly as she stood up from the table, facing Cecilia properly. “Then you’ve pieced together who we are, then? Fine, if you’re sure, anyway. I’ll let you have one question for free.”
Cecilia lowered her hood, closing her eyes. “Just one, actually. …Which bird did you take for your title, Fujiwara?”
