Yuzuki rushes to her father and stepmother’s house as soon as she’s recovered. Outwardly, there’s nothing wrong– no broken windows, everything in its place. Yet that would pose little obstacle for that Incubator. She grabs her key and lets herself in quickly.
She enters to find Rikuto standing in the front hall, looking bewildered. A quick glance to the side confirms what Yuzuki was afraid of: the shard of scrap metal, the Incubator conduit, is gone.
Rikuto: O-oh, Yuzu. Did Marian text you?
Yuzuki: I– y-yeah. What happened?
Rikuto: (With his hands on his hips, he gazes at where the conduit once rested) Damnedest thing I’ve ever seen. Some crazy girl in a hood just barged right in here while Marian and I were watching a movie. She just made a beeline for that piece of scrap metal we had right there– you know, the one you found with your friends when you were a kid. I guess it was something valuable all these years after all.
Yuzuki: Are you and her okay?
Rikuto: Yeah, she didn’t even look at us. (He shakes his head) I ain’t ever heard of a burglar who comes in while the homeowners are right there. I don’t even know how she got in, I’m sure the door was locked and no broken windows either.
Yuzuki: (She sighs in relief) I’m just glad you two are okay…
Rikuto: Sorry, Yuzu. I know that thing was a treasure for you and your friends… she came in and out so fast. I didn’t even get much of a look at her face.
Yuzuki: Don’t worry about that, Dad… it was just a little piece of scrap metal.
Rikuto: Still, I always hoped you’d have it for when that little Anisa girl came back. Guess she wouldn’t be so little anymore.
Yuzuki: … Yeah. (She pulls out her phone, texting the bad news to Yui and Melati)
