Shinju jolts awake, nearly slipping off the couch where she’d been napping. She pounds the cushions and jumps to her feet, gathering up her coat and shoes and making a beeline for the door. Kohaku, apparently hearing the commotion, emerges from her room.
Kohaku: What’s gotten into you?
Shinju: (She continues putting on her shoes, as if she might not answer) I’m going out.
Kohaku: For what, at this time?
Shinju: Sorry, but it’s time I gotta do something about Yui.
Kohaku: (She comes closer, leaning against the wall with a disapproving look on her face) I thought we talked about this and I said–
Shinju: I just caught her down in that dream world making friends with that Chinese Balancer.
Kohaku: … (She pinches the bridge of her nose in exasperation) Oh.
Shinju: I know, I’m being stupid for giving her what she wants with this dumb “beat me up” thing, but I gotta at this point. And then I– we gotta do something about that Chinese girl.
Kohaku: I suppose Yui’s forgotten that she killed a lot of good men.
Shinju: You know how people are about soldiers. Might as well be a bunch of… (She stomps her foot into her shoe) A bunch of redshirts, right? (She raises her hand) No, I’m not gonna kill her, and I’m definitely not gonna die.
Kohaku: See to it that you don’t. I don’t want to have even more words for Yui next time I see her either.
Shinju: I’ve got Sango with me if it gets bad. Try to make sure that Chinese girl doesn’t cause trouble down there, okay? Someone’s got to, and I can’t go back for a bit.
Kohaku: Yeah, okay.
With that, Shinju headed out the door. Kohaku heads back for her room, but she knows sleep is hardly going to come.
