Yui races through the tattered, impossible structure of the Dreamscape. Tearing through buildings, bricks, trees and fences. Her breathing is heavy, but she pushes herself beyond even her soul’s normal limits. On the horizon, the figure of Mei’s soul slowly descends. Yui knows she can’t let him get to it before she does.
Sure enough, on the other side, a young man in a mask identical to Nebbia Piccolo’s is racing with equal fervor, equally desperate in a goal opposite Yui’s. The Imposter’s Masque gives him enough control to carve an even path for him to run. Yui is stronger, fighting uphill while Worldeater runs downhill, without the focus of his soul. The pair draw closer together, sprinting towards one another— and their shared target— with blind, desperate fury. Neither of them show any signs of stopping or slowing, nor showing the toll that this absolute need is taking on them. Both are drawn as if by the opposing poles of magnets pulled together.
Luca extends his hand with a crazed grin, only to feel Yui’s fist driven into his face. Stumbling back, Luca stares, bewildered that the Forte would let her pupil’s soul shatter upon the unforgiving boundary of the Dreamscape, yet he is pushed back by another barrage of attacks. Jumping back, he stares, completely stunned at the sight of the Maestro, cradling the static, fraying form of Mei’s freshly torn soul in his arms. Once again, before Luca can even get a word out, he is forced back by Yui’s relentless assault.
Yui: You better… you damn well better not let me regret this, Conductor! (Yui grits her teeth as she continues to pummel Luca, not even looking back to confirm that Velare caught Mei in time) You better not make me fucking regret this! You damn well better not do to her what you did to me! ‘Cause… ‘cause if you do… (Her attacks grow more and more vicious, sparks flying out of her fists as they collide with Luca’s face) …I’ll kill you. You hear me?! I’ll kill you! I’ll fucking kill every last goddamn ONE OF YOU!
Luca: …! (He snaps awake in a small bed, sweat pouring from his pale face. He feels his cheeks and nose, sure enough showing no signs of the shattering his dream-self endured from the Forte’s relentless assault, but her agonized shrieks still echo in his mind, and the pain somehow lingers. He looks around, as if anticipating Yui Arashi to crash through the bedside window, but his eyes fall simply on the creature sitting on the sill.) You… you did not warn me that she would be that vicious, Incubator…
Kyubey: But I did, didn’t I? I told you that you needed to take care of Yui Arashi before anyone else! Her soul is among the most powerful I’ve ever seen in a human being in the last two hundred years, and she has long since learned to weaponize her emotions. She has attained powers beyond the limits of any other Magical Girl, even if she cannot use them properly or consciously yet!
Luca: Y-Yes, Kyubey, I… vividly remember the briefing. But—
Kyubey: I also told you all long before coming to Mitakihara that Yui was a priority target. …This is what you get for playing games with the Puellae of Mitakihara, especially since you had them all captive, ready to be erased! You chose to play games, Worldeater, and this is the price you paid! Perhaps now you lot will actually heed what I say, and do the job I tasked you all with. …Properly this time, if you please.
