Yui rides away from the cabin, and once clear, builds up much more speed. She races towards Mitakihara, a specific site in the once-thriving nightlife district. Clouds gather overhead as her target comes into view: An old Opera House, ruined and burned from a history Yui knew only too well. Once the building was in sight, Yui spotted an equally familiar, hooded figure emerging from the ruins.
Cecilia: … And to all things, come an end, and a beginning.
Yui dismounts her bike once she kills the motor, slowly walking up towards Cecilia, rolling her shoulders and head, cracking her neck.
Yui: ... I knew I’d find you here, Sis.
The Oracle lowers her hood, a cold, neutral expression on her face as she descends the stairs leading up to the Opera House’s foundation.
Cecilia: Indeed. Now, let’s get the obvious question out of the way.
Yui: Yeah, yeah. You fuckin’ guys and your song-and-dance… Where the fuck have you been? I’d say “You know what we went through?” but you already know.
Cecilia: I won’t deny you… I had an old obligation to fulfill, and to find myself. I went to Kamihama City, to visit and aid an old friend of mine.
Yui: (cracking her knuckle) Kamihama? That city that, like… half disappeared, or some shit a while ago? The fuck did you need to go there for?
Cecilia: Close your eyes, Yui. Reach out. Tell me what you feel when you focus on that city.
Yui: (she does just that, only to jump a little as her eyes shoot open) … There’s a city there now. Sis, the fuck did you do?
Cecilia: The city was veiled and gripped within a labyrinth of gargantuan proportions. As you fought with an amalgamate Witch just barely within the confines of our planet, I fought with a near-amalgamate approximate, liberating an old friend… from herself.
Yui: The city was held by a Witch?! But it’s not so simple that you went to fight it. Right?
Cecilia: You will meet her in time, Yui. Given how winded you are, I assume you just came from the Third Angel’s hiding place.
Yui: …
Cecilia: And that you, like everyone in Mitakihara, have seen the recent “broadcast”?
Yui: Not like anyone could’ve missed it.
Cecilia: To answer your question more broadly, I have been preparing for this upcoming threat.Anisa Nobunaga has feared my return to Mitakihara for a long time now. A prophecy, half delivered from that which I can genuinely not see, tells of an apocalyptic event upon the Oracle’s return to Mitakihara. I internally debated staying away, but I knew these events would play out regardless. And truth be told, Yui, you would need my help. You see—
Cecilia’s words are cut off with a swift right hook to her cheek, causing her to fall onto her side, staring up at Yui with wide, shocked eyes.
Yui: ... Fuck off. You led me to becomin’ what I am now, with that Kae shit. You left me here to flounder in the dark with Aoi while you went to Witch Therapy or some shit. Now you come back, wantin’ to direct like Vel used to. Fuck you, Oracle.
Cecilia: (she rubs her cheek for a moment before rising back to her feet) ... How? How did you evade my vision? How do you continue to evade my vision?
Yui: (she smirks, crossing her arms) You got that omniscience thing down, alright. But didja forget already that your brother had this same vision, and had it evaded by a certain group that fought him? The kinda enemy that had a kid?
Cecilia: … Kaito Arashi did not teach you how to evade my visions.
Yui: Didn’t have to. I just paid attention in my extra-curricular history lessons. I know how this sight of yours really works. I know that aside Yasu, for some reason, your “blind spots” are just code for “things are going to plan, so I don’t gotta do shit”. And, bitch, we used to be the same person. You got some fight in you now, ’cause of me. But I got a little foresight, ’cause of you. So, let’s try this again and you can really fuckin’ talk to me.
The Oracle is quiet for a long moment, then slowly nods.
Cecilia: ... Then yes. What currently is happening is what I would call a “blind spot”.
Yui: In what fucking world is everything okay right now?! You saw what Shiori just fucking did, right?! What she plans to do?! You mean to tell me you planned for this?!
Cecilia: If I tell you now, you will jeopardize that which I have foreseen as the best chance you, Alice, and all of Mitakihara have of escaping the oncoming storm in one piece.
This time, Yui is quiet, and she looks away.
Yui: ... Tell me that’s what went down with Kae.
Cecilia: … Pardon?
Yui: Tell me. To my face. That everything I went through in fighting Kae, and becomin’ a Puella Malefica… tell me that was also part of your grand design.
Cecilia: … Think of where you are now. As you are now. At peace with your Witch, but more importantly, at peace with yourself. You went through hell. I put you through hell… Just like Velare did. And tell me, Yui, that you are not grateful for the strength to protect that which you love.
Yui: Don’t pull that shit with me, Cecilia! You’re not the fuckin’ Maestro!
Cecilia: Would you prefer that this, or any of the other storms you have faced since you came into this world consume the people you love, Yui? Would you be content to sit powerless and watch Alice die?!
Yui clenches her fist in a tight ball, internally debating on whether to hit Cecilia again, but eventually sighs and relaxes her hand.
Cecilia: … I thought so.
Yui: … So, why the fuck are you really here, then? Since you an’ Vel did such a good job makin’ that fuckin’ weapon in the end.
Cecilia: To wear the mantle you’ve painted me in, then… I am here to see the seeds of my scheming bear fruit.
Yui: But why, though? What do you even fucking want?!
Cecilia: The same thing my brother did. To combat and deter the Incubators, once and for all. They are my enemy. My brother’s enemy. Our enemy, Yui. Our true enemy.
Yui: … No spoilers, then. You’re cryin’ “blind spot” again, and only us Malefica know what that means for sure. But if we play ball, we’ll survive this?
Cecilia: You won’t just survive, Yui. You will see The Conductors’ dream fulfilled, at least in Mitakihara City. But to say this won’t be hell on earth…
Yui: … Fine. I got plans of my own, anyway. I sure hope you got somewhere to stay here in ground zero or whatever. ‘Cause the gym isn’t the same as you left it. I filled your old job.
Cecilia: … Wait. Hold on… (Cecilia’s eyes flash blue and lose focus, and eventually, they widen as her trance fades) ... How did you hide this from me?
Yui: (she smirks again.) Well, for one, you weren’t here. You were in a barrier, and your sight wasn’t up to date. The other thing is, I’ve gotten so used to fighting you Conductor assholes, I learned how to do what my dad did, and expand it. Sorry, Sis. You can’t see me so well anymore, not unless I want you to.
Cecilia: … That is incredibly reckless, Yui, and you risk shifting the events I have foreseen into dangerous territory! The consequences could be catastrophic!
Yui: That, “First Angel”, is what you get for keepin’ me in the dark. Vel did, and look what happened ’cause of it. You killed him, usin’ my body.
Cecilia: That’s not—
Yui: And then, I put a stop to that crazy sniper chick that took out Ozymandias.
Cecilia: Her name is—
Yui: And then, I dug into Kae, fought her as she revived, and broke her fucking soul into pieces. Destroyed the bits that needed to stay dead. Me an’ Sabby both.
Cecilia: I—
Yui: And then I stopped Anisa fucking Nobunaga from killing Aoi, took down the same fucking Super-Witch that broke this city five years ago, and came back from goddamn space.
Cecilia: Technically, you weren’t in spa—
Yui: And y’know what the common thread is between all of these events? I didn’t have to fucking kill anyone to get here. And I’m stickin’ true to that now. Not sayin’ there’s no blood on my hands. But I can sure as shit keep ’em clean now. Do I make myself clear, Oracle?
Cecilia: … Do you presume to be above me, Yui? That somehow, you are more powerful than I am? Than I intended you to be, this whole time?
Yui: No. I’m sayin’ we’re equals. We’re both just another couple of that damn cat’s science projects. Us, Anisa, and Kae. The four of us went rogue, and three of us survived with lucid minds and cosmic, impossible power. Trust me when I say that even if I have to go through hell to keep everyone safe… even if this city bends or even breaks, I’ll keep us all standing… and God damn it, Sis, I’ll do it on my fucking terms. Not some prophecy you carved into stone. So, get this through your head. You can stand with us, fight with us, and help us, or you can get the fuck outta our way. Nothin’ stays on script around me, and I like it that way.
Cecilia: … You are far stronger than I intended you to be. But perhaps… perhaps that is what we need, after all. Very well. If things go “off script”, then you can count on me to guide you.
Yui: … I can sense it, you know. The peace you made with your other half. Does that mean you can go all Angel again?
Cecilia: … Can you?
Yui: (another smirk) ... Fair enough.
Cecilia: What will you do now, then?
Yui: Same as always. Gonna hit the gym. Got some sandbags to put down, wallpaper to put up, machine-gun turrets, cameras, barking dogs… you know, normal gym stuff… (Yui turns, giving a dismissive wave behind her) … I’ll be in touch.
Cecilia: … How, exactly?
Yui: (Yui reaches into her pocket, tossing an old flip-phone over her shoulder) If this rings, move your ass, Sis. Otherwise, do whatever the hell you want… I’ll do the same. Have fun plannin’ around it.
Cecilia: …
Yui: Don’t worry. I’m not out to trip you up. You’re too goddamn usefull for me to let my pride take the wheel. But don’t make any mistake here. I’m *going* to beat the ever loving shit out of you once this is all over. And now, you know I can do it.
Cecilia: … What I know is that my sight is useless. Aside that, I am still your elder. As a Puella, and as a Malefica. Do not get complacent, Yui.
As she turns her head, a sinister smirk crosses Yui’s lips, and arguably not her own expression.
Yui: Oho… I’m lookin’ forward to it, Sis.
Turning back, Yui makes her way back to her motorcycle, speeding back into the city. With a sigh, the Oracle sits down, hugging her knees.
Cecilia: ...Yui. I’m so sorry… for everything. But we must survive this, first, if I am to seek your forgiveness. So I will play my part… even if you can rewrite the script, now. …You never did make it easy.
Cecilia holds her moment for a while longer, then stands back up with a sigh, pulling her hood back over her head, covering her eyes.
Cecilia: One final act, then. …I’d best be about it.
